New Era 59FIFTY NHL hats....

Most of the posts on here have to do with baseball or football teams, but don't think that I have slept on some of those classic NHL hockey logos. Some of these teams no longer exist, but their logos will never die.

I also like the colors for some of these older 1980's teams. The teams today rarely have the beautiful color schemes that they used to have back in the day.

First up, the classic... Hartford Whalers. This is the hat that motivated me to do this post. This simple logo brings a smile to my face. I realize that some people might say blue and green don't really match too well, but I don't give a shit, the hat looks nice to me...

If you know anything about hockey then you know that the Edmonton Oilers were the best franchise in all of hockey in the 1980s. Somehow they not only landed the great one, Wayne Gretzky, but they also acquired a boatload of more Hall of Famers. The team's ability has nothing to do with their logo, I just think that this blue and orange is nice and you can't go wrong with a team that has a few Stanley Cups in their back pocket...

Minnesota North Stars...the eternally classic green and yellow. If you are ever lost in the wilderness, look for the the brightest star in the sky. Start walking that direction. It will take you to the North Star in the Alpha Centauri galaxy...

Last up, Buffalo Sabres. I almost skipped this one, but the fact that the Buffalo has those red eyes... I had to throw it in. I like that shade of blue that they use. A simple classic logo. I would buy a hamburger from this franchise if they were available.

Check out the full collection of the New Era 59FIFTY NHL TM hats here....

Baseball hats with the football colors...

This is a new collection of hats put out by New Era. These 59Fifty MLB FB Twisted hats feature baseball team logos with the football team's colors.

Incredible idea... first up is the Tampa Bay Rays twisted with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is nice because it has that creamsicle color scheme that you either love or hate...

What do you think of this Minnesota Twins with the Minnesota Vikings? Are you getting it now?

This Detroit Tigers and Lions mashup is nice, too....

Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies....

Check out the rest of the collection here. I wish these hats were around when I was a kid when I had that disposable income to throw around... Enjoy.

MLB hats x Plaid

We all know that flannels with the plaid pattern are back in a major way right now. What better way to compliment your look than with a matching hat from lids.com? Twins '47 released this incredible assortment of hats called the Collision MLB Franchise.

This Pirates hat especially caught my eye. It has that Bumblebee - Warning - type of look to it with that timeless black and yellow combination. Classy!

This Pirates hat also reminds me of a previous post I did on an Ohio State argyle pattern hat. Check out that post here. Twins Enterprises continues to do it correct...

Surf City x Pizza x Detroit Bar x Alejandro's x Collossal KNXN =...

Saturday Night, December 5th, 2009. Recap. First up, dinner time. Time for a slice at Surf City Pizza. I wrote a review of it here. They know me here by name. We chat for a few minutes while the slices are in the oven. Friendly service, but do not order delivery. It could take up to two hours.

The slices are perfect, but the interior of Surf City Pizza is what takes it to the next level. Surfboards, pictures of waves, vintage pictures of Huntington Beach... basically anything to do with Surfing or Surf City, HB.

Highly recommended for a slice or a pie to pick up. I love the crust. It's slightly salty and crispy, which I like. All I really get there is the pizza, so I cannot really comment on much else on their menu. Their buffalo wings are okay.

Next up, Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. Colossal KNXN were spinning and boy oh boy, did they kill it! They played all the hits; old school, new school, house, hip hop, motown, everything. I was very pleased and impressed with the DJs and the crowd. Friendly , good looking people out for a good time.

I was drinking Amstel Lights and finishing up my boy's shots of Patron. Detroit is always a cool if you bring a positive attitude and know how to have a good time.

Last stop, Alejandro's right in the same parking lot as Detroit. As you can see, I judge a Mexican spot by their carne asada burrito. Alejandro's did not disappoint. Their carne asada is perfection in a tortilla. While their salsa is not what I would call top notch, their burrito was exactly what I desired at 1AM. It was hard to get a picture of my food, but trust me, it was delicious. The tacos also looked scrumptious.

Made it home safe and sound. Good times, good food, good music...

Giant Slices of Pizza!!

Not only do I love pizza, but I especially love giant slices of pizza. The first place I think of when I talk about giant slices is a little spot in Huntington Beach called Pizza D'Oro down on Newland and Indianapolis. I grew up in the area and this was my first exposure to a slice that was so big it would fall over the edges of most plates.

Cooking giant slices is tricky because you are essentially reheating/ recooking them. I love when they cook those pepperonis up nice and hot.

Pizza D'Oro is the standard to which I hold all other giant slices to. The operation has those red and white checkered tablecloths and give really good service. It is one of the best and biggest slice of pepperoni pizza around. The slice combo also comes with a nice salad with mozzerella cheese and a few pepperonis on it as well.

The other location I have discovered is called Giant Manhattan Pizza in the city of Anaheim on Brookhurst and Katella. One day I had an hour lunch after a training in the area and found this gem. One of the special things Giant Manhattan brings to the table is they cut up the slice for you. It makes it much easier to eat. They also serve up the slices on a food tray to show you the true power of their pie. I included a shot of a full pie about to get sauced and cheesed so you could behold the power of their pizza.

Giant Manhattan is also excellent pizza, but it will take some time to get their slice, so don't expect your food to come out quick. Good food takes time. Your patience will pay off.

Do you have any favorite places to get a slice at?

Allen Iverson x DJ Steve Porter...

When you hear about AI coming back to the Philadelphia 76ers do you immediately think about him "talkin about practice?" Without that phrase Allen Iverson is still a good player however, that press conference sealed his place on the wall as one of my favorite all-time athletes.

Somedays that phrase gets stuck in my head and plays over and over again. But now thanks to DJ Steve Porter, I can now sing/rap to it. It's hard to explain, so just listen to it.

The song features Allen "we talkin about practice?" Iverson, Jim "Playoffs?" Mora, Dennis "they were who we thought they were" Green, and Joe "I wanna kiss you" Namath. Please at least wait until Namath's part. Just listen to the song one time. That's all I ask.

This is the type of song that will bring sunshine to a person's cloudy day.

The Hundreds x Delorean Motor Company

If you check back to my previous blogs you will see I am a huge fan of Back to the Future Part 2. The boys over at the Hundreds clothing company collaborated with the lone surviving Delorean auto plant in the US and came up with some fat designs.

The story of the Hundreds visiting the plant is incredible. It comes in six parts, so set aside some time to read those blog entries. These designs are incredible as well. Due out this Thursday at select locations. Read their blog for further deets. Good luck!
