Cooperstown Collection x New Era

I realize it is not baseball season, but as I was flipping through Lids.com this past Black Friday, my eye continued to roam back to the MLB section. I feel like MLB hats are a little tighter than NFL, NBA and College hats mainly because it is essentially like wearing your favorite player's uniform.

Most of these hats I have pictured below are throwbacks from the Cooperstown Collection put out in collaboration with New Era, but I did throw in one modern day hat because I think we have all slept on it a little bit.

First up, Old School Phillies. Whoever thought of baby blue and marroon? That is a questionable decision right there. But after much reflection, this color scheme has grown on me. It makes me feel young again. Like I can open up a pack of baseball cards and eat the gum.

Montreal Expos. That cursive M is legit, as well as those different colored side panels. That red, white and blue makes me feel patriotic, however it is a Canadian team, so it confuses me.

This bird is up to something. It's like he knows something that I don't know. And it's a real good secret. He's a good guy though.

This is very Atari 2600. Not Nintendo or Commodore 64, because I never had a Commodore. That icon/ baseball player is right off an old school Atari 2600 cartridge. Just make sure you blow on it before you put it in.

I also love how it is spelled "Sox." We didn't know how to spell way before cell phones came out.

When this hat came out, kids went bonkers. The White Sox gained about 100,000 new fans. Every gang banger with a Raiders or LA Kings jacket now had a new cap to rock around the hood. Color out a small part of that "o" in Sox and it becomes "Sex." This cap is way underrated.

DC shoes AT-3...my weapon of choice...

What do I wear? I put up all these posts about Jordans and Pumps, but what I am rocking right now are these DC AT-3 shoes. They have features that I like; the Aerotech airvent, the air bubble wrapping around the back and a cute little air pillow on the bottom of the sneaker. Plus, they are extremely comfortable.

The AT-2's and AT-3's both come in some wild combinations of colors, but the formal looking black and whites caught my eye in a DC store awhile back. When I have a pair of shoes I like, I wear them!

I found these at skatestyles.com

Jordan x Mars Blackmon

These are really the shoes that started it all for a lot of cats out there. The classic Air Jordan Nike. These shoes came out in 1989 and were priced at $110. I needed a Nintendo more than I needed these shoes at the time, but the Spike Lee/Mars Blackmon commercials definitely had me convinced I would have been the coolest kid at my school and the best basketball player if I had a pair of Jordan Fours.

These shoes are incredibly difficult to find in the classic Chicago Bulls colors, but there are many different varieties and editions available as Nike allows designers to get ahold of them and put their own twist on a legendary set of shoes.

Try to cop a pair at pickyourshoes.com and also check out their full selection of all style sneakers...

Spud Webb Dunk Contest 1986

It was 1986. I was 8 years old. And this is when I knew that anything was possible.

When the chips are down, and the world has got you by the throat, just watch this one minute and twenty nine second video and realize that if you believe, you can achieve...

(Don't sleep on the cameo by Jordan. He can't believe it either.)

Reebok Court Victory Pump Michael Chang...

Reebok is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their greatest sneaker of all-time, the Reebok Pump. One of my favorite styles of these shoes was the Michael Chang "Tennis Ball" pump. The pump on the tongue of the sneaker was made of the same material as a fuzzy, green tennis ball. The color scheme was disgusting.

Would I wear these today? Probably not. But if I was creating a list of dream shoes to own, this would without a doubt be in my top ten.

Who is Michael Chang? Not really sure. I think he had a hot start to his career, but fizzled out in the end. But the Changer will always be remembered for being at the right place, at the right time, with the right management and being on board with the correct shoe...

The Hundreds clothing company....

The Hundreds is a clothing company coming out of California. Their logos and graphics have always caught my eye. They have these incredible old school style script-cursive hats that remind me of the good old days.

Yes. That is a Lakers mesh snapback hat.

They also have this cute little bomb logo that I really like. It's easy on the eyes. It reminds me of some old school Nintendo, Super Mario Brothers 3 to be exact. The bomb seems like a distant cousin to the bullet from those games.

Check out this New Era hat from these guys.

This t-shirt design is based off the Heaven's Gate cult back in the 90s. This cult all killed themselves so they could catch a spaceship flying past Earth. Cults are cool. This logo is cool. The t-shirt is cool. And peep out the tiny bomb on the back. This is part of their Winter collection, so if you get this shirt, you will be cool. Pick up a shirt here. You're welcome. More posts to come from this clothing company.

Wings n Things in HB...

Wings n Things is a restaurant located on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. They have this appetizer there that I have never seen anywhere else and it is awesome.

"RACHEL ROOSTER RINDS
Great buffalo wing taste without the fuss. Crispy deep fried chicken coverings dipped in buffalo wing sauce. A Wings 'N Things original specialty!"

These are just as incredible as they sound. Where else can you get just the chicken skin? Deep fried and dipped in buffalo wing sauce?

Just these Rooster Rinds alone are worth the trip. But check out these fries, too. Fresh cut, curly and salty.

The wings were pretty good. I still think the House of Brews in Huntington Beach have the best wings.

We killed it. There was also a salad and some chicken tenders in there.

Big Belly Crew Hats...

These hats are coming straight off the streets of Orange County... Garden Grove to be exact. Big Belly Crew is a clothing company started up by two brothers who love to drink Jack Daniels, eat food, and live life to the fullest. Check out their full line of shirts, shorts, and tanks here. You might see Street Bike Tommy rocking a t-shirt in a few episodes of Nitro Circus this past season.

I'm not ready to come to terms with my own big belly, so these hats are enough for me. That brown is sharp, especially with the Holiday season coming around. Check back at Surfside Industriesfor the latest Big Belly Crew gear and everything else you need!

Mac knows too...

I like these colors better than the Bo Jackson's below this post. Something about that tennis ball green that really stands out to me. With that grey. Classy. These shoes are dedicated to John McEnroe. I can't say much about tennis or Johnny Mac. I know the parody of him being upset all the time with the ref, but all I am saying is I like these colors better than the Bo's. He has these shoes because he was in
the commercial back in the day.

Pick up a pair at Foot Locker later on this month. No link available yet.

Bo knows video game shoes...

Check out these new shoes coming out in November of 2009. It's a throwback to the Bo Jackson days. That first pic is what really got me juiced on these shoes. They only look alright on the outsides, but check out that old school Nintendo picture of Bo playing for the Royals. I read on another website they were referring to these as "Tecmos" but that graphic/artwork looks more like RBI baseball to me.

You would have to wear these inside out in order for them to get the full effect. Because the other tight part of them is on the tongue where it says "Bo knows." Once the inside out ones come out, I'll pick up a pair. You can get them at Foot Locker later on this month.
