Jensen's Finest Foods in Wrightwood, CA

If you are reading this blog, then chances are pretty high that you have been to or heard of Mountain High in Wrightwood, CA.  While the mountain and features are great and the service friendly, sometimes it is good to look around a mountain town and see what the locals snack on. We had driven past this Jensen's Finest Foods hundreds of times until one day, we rolled the dice and gave it a shot.

It was a homerun.  Here's the recap.

This is the Caprese Panini.

Mozzarella, tomato, basil and cappacola layered and grilled until the edges are crisp.  Nothing beats a warm sandwich on a cold winter day.

Fresh ingredients and low prices.

This is the Turkey Cilantro Jalapeno Pesto. It will knock your socks off. Has a spicy kick to it. Perfect for a post snowboard bite.

Jensen's is in the center of town.  You can't miss it if you are driving through Wrightwood.

No trip to Mountain High is complete without a trip to Jensen's.

Support your local deli.

Damian Sanders Powder and Rails

Vice Magazine and Burton snowboarding teamed up to shoot a series of documentaries on the roots of snowboarding called Powder and Rails. I discovered them on Netflix not too far back and loved the shots and the message.

One episode that really stuck out to me was the Damian Sanders episode.  He had the most incredible hair style, fashion style and snowboarding style.

Personally, I love giant method airs and tweaks.

Damian Sanders would go huge. Plus with the hair and outfits. Outstanding. Throw in a few Pimp n Ho parties back in the day and this dude is probably loaded with classic stories.

Check out some other videos when you get a chance. Love that Jeff Brushie episode as well.

Mountain High West Wednesdays

Yesterday was a glorious day to be at the mountains in Southern California.  Below is a picture of the East Resort at Mountain High in Wrightwood, California.

Here is the sun bursting through at the West resort.

This is the view we all love to see.  On top of the world.

We stayed at the mountain for awhile.  Long enough to see the sun start to set.
My camera calls the shot taken below "posterize."
Thermal setting.  Feel the sun set to the right.
Check out Mountain High.  The people there will treat you fine.

Mountain Monday x Mountain High Pow Day Past

Finally got around to posting up some videos from Mountain High from last season.  I love Mountain High.

The reality is that I love any mountain.  Especially when it is dumping some of that fluffy stuff.

This day of videos was from a spectacular powder day...February 19th, 2011.

In case you are not into snowboarding.  This song is also about fluffy, white stuff.

Big Bear MLK Weekend

Made a trip up to Big Bear a few weeks back. Took a few shots for you. Enjoy.

Expect a lot of fisheye for awhile. Loving this app on my phone.

Polaroid option... this is a tree on top of Geronimo, the highest served lift in Southern California... We went on a Friday and had the park to ourselves... pretty much had first chair up and and stayed until the parking lot was almost empty.

Special shout out to Olde Ivory...

Saw this picture of Ronald McDonald and I had to take a pic of it. Wow. Creepy to the highest degree.

Mountain High 11/22/2010

First day up on the mountain at Mountain High, Wrightwood, California. Mt. High is located about 70 miles from Disneyland. A few lift lines had opened last week, but the first real good storm had just hit this past weekend.

Pre ride snack... Welch's Grape Soda and Cheetos...

Absolutely beautiful weather...

The snow was pretty fluffy for Mt. High... Nicest conditions I have ever been on at the mountain. Real cherry day.

I spent a lot of time carving and just getting my legs back. It was cold so wear plenty of layers. They had about 5 jumps, a box and a rainbow box. The blowers hit pretty hard at the bottom of the mountain so I would suggest just stay near the top if you can.

Santa was there. Posting up...

Next time (tomorrow) I promise to get more picks of the terrain. Sorry for missing out on that...

Keep checking out the site for more updates on your local mountains in Southern California...

Neff Headwear Spring/ Summer 2010 Collection....

Neff Headwear

You might recognize this company from a previous post. This is some shirts from their Spring/ Summer 2010 line. Neff has a fat style and I like a lot of their new tees.

I worked at Baskin Robbins for about five years of my life. This shirt reminds me of the good old days. Minimum wage was $4.25 and gas was about $1.50.

This shirt is called "Class Act." No Bullshit. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Look at this fucking pussycat. He's got the Aunt Jemima/ 2pac bandana thing going with the guns, but the guns shoot bubbles. Cool.

I want/ need to know more about what's going on here. Who are these guys? What is their relationship like? Is that guy biting his head? Weird and cool at the same time.

All these shirts come in different colors and Neff offers up sunglasses, board shorts, hats, beanies, hoodies and women's tees. Check them out when you get a chance.

Air Blaster Snowboarding Gear...

Air Blaster has a sense of humor. Some clothing companies take themselves too seriously. Air Blaster gets it. I like their designs and logo. They use dinosaurs (T-Rexes and Pterodactyls) on some of their stuff, they have a cool little pill design and a funny FAQ.

Here is some pics of my favorite stuff from them. They produce goggles, pants, jackets, and everything else you would need to go snowboarding. Cool colors on all their stuff.

Can't be mad at a shark.

T-Rex in Oakleys. Looking 1980's.

Their goggles are dope.

Neff Headwear and Tees...

NEFF! Just say it... NEFF! It's fun to say and fun to wear. I have been watching this clothing brand really blow up here in Southern California over the past few years and have become a real fan. I love the smiley face with the tongue out logo.

I mean, we're looking at break dancers with a ghetto blaster here. How could this be bad?

This hat is incredible. Would I wear it? Not today. But if I was 25 years old in 1986 and I had a mullet and loved to BMX, then I would rock the shit out of this on the daily.

Are you cold? Then be Hulk Hogan...

Or Mr. T...

The story goes....from the website, "NEFF was started by Shaun Neff, in Southern California during the year 2002... Originally starting out as a clothing company Neff made a couple shirts and hats and the adventure began. Shaun HUSTLED the product out of his car buying 99 cent headbands marking Neff on them with paint pens then giving them to friends as the Neff vibe began."

I love the hustle this guy embodies. Check out his website here.
